Dear colleagues, we have recently published the world's first Government AI Readiness Index, to capture the current capacity of UN countries to absorb - and exploit - the innovative potential of AI. As I think this might be something of interest to many here, I am posting it in this group.

The Government AI Readiness Index shows which countries in the world are best placed to maximise the potential of AI in public service delivery.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will revolutionise public service delivery. Governments around the world are starting to see its enormous potential: for their economies, their societies, and their own public services. Until now, most research has focused on the technical implementation and likely impacts of AI. We asked a different question: how well-placed are the national governments in the UN to take advantage of the benefits of automation in their operations?
The index published by Oxford Insights in partnership with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) examines 194 countries and uses a wide range of source information from in-country digital skills and government innovation to existing data capabilities. European governments feature prominently in the top 20.
I will be joining the first European AI Alliance Assembly on June 26th. If anyone would be interested in having a chat about the index or just generally getting in touch, feel free to reach out!
Cheers,
Walter M. Pasquarelli
