Biometrics Institute Good Practice Framework

The Biometrics Institute Good Practice Framework (working title) is a first-of-its-kind good practice tool that outlines the various stages of the strategic planning, procurement and operation of a biometric system or network. The primary function of the framework is to provide a structured pathway through the factors that may influence or constrain any biometric application.

The draft framework was released to Biometrics Institute members at its Congress in October 2019. It is currently undergoing consultation in form of three consultative workshops which will work through three different scenarios with the first one in Washington DC (March 2020) on law enforcement, followed by one in Brussels (April 2020) on border management and Sydney (May 2020) on digital identity.

These consultative workshops will evaluate the framework and help define gaps that can be addressed through specific good practice material and/ or training.
