On 30 June 2026, the final conference of the project dedicated to improving Serbia’s legal framework for participation in European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs) was successfully held at the Science and Technology Park Novi Sad.
The conference, organised on behalf of the Banat-Triplex Confinium EGTC as part of the project implementation, brought together representatives of national institutions, local governments, international organisations and experts in cross-border cooperation to exchange experiences and discuss opportunities for strengthening Serbia’s institutional and legal framework for EGTC participation.
The event also presented the project's key results, including the professional concept of a draft law enabling Serbian participation in European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs). The proposed legal framework aims to create the conditions for Serbian municipalities and other public entities to become full members of EGTCs, thereby fostering institutionalised cross-border cooperation, strengthening territorial cohesion and supporting Serbia's European integration process.
A key highlight of the event was the official signing of the Letter of Intent, reaffirming the participants' shared commitment to advancing the legal and institutional framework for Serbia's future participation in EGTCs and strengthening European territorial cooperation.
