Re-thinking Medical Education with AI

To be realistic, to turn away from the advances that Artificial Intelligence may bring for health benefit cannot be ignored. The gradual discoveries over the last couple of decades using latest microscopes and computers have introduced new thinking into the practice of medicine. Patients and Medical professionals now expect that the healthcare provided is compliant with latest medical findings. Outdated models such as 'Broadmann's Area' is not fully reflected in Electroencephalograms (EEG) data, and so to be used in medical education and practice is befalling of true medical benefits. When using such outdated concept during examinations and treatments, a correspondence with EEG data cannot be related, which is required for most accurate diagnosis. A Patient expects that, but traditional medical training without data and AI, cannot provide.

Medical Education and Practice, is the most relevant area that has been protected from advances of computers, data and AI. However, medicines that are produced, often use Super-Computer like computations during development and testing. Similarly, the 'Medical Doctor' who is to prescribe such a medication, needs to consider millions of combinations in order to determine the right prescription, and is currently based on traditional medical methods without data and AI. Understandably, many classically trained 'Doctors' are leaving their jobs, without new generation of students, who do not want to undertake such critical interactions - without any computers at all.

An updated method of medical training is required, that replaces the Analogue-type medical education, with contemporary Digitally-focused medical education, that teaches the development and application of new medications, using the importance of data and AI. Currently, this important area of Science, is in a no-mans-land, reluctant to take new technologies, and unable to cope with outdated education and training.
