Call for experts: short-term expert pool for various studies related to human-centric AI for the InTouchAI.eu initiative

The International Outreach for Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence (InTouchAI.eu) is an initiative of the European Commission Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) of the European External Action Services (EEAS) implemented in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).

The InTouchAI.eu initiative aims “to contribute to the setting up of a framework for ethics and trust to enable the growth of AI in accordance with EU and universally recognised values and prepare the ground for global consensus building in this field”.

As part of the technology diplomacy and research and intelligence gathering activities of the project, several studies are being implemented to support the Commission Services in preparing technical discussions to be conducted under bilateral policy dialogues, as well as in multilateral events with key partners and to set the ground for consensus building on human-centric AI at international level.

Job description

For the implementation of the project, the lead partner of the InTouchAI.eu project (GFA Consulting Group GmbH) is looking for various experts for short-term assignments.

The assignments are intended to provide, under the direct guidance of the project's key experts, support to design and conduct various studies related to human-centric AI, such as the following:

  • Baseline study of the EU human-centric approach to AI in a global context (legal, socio-technical, historical, cultural analysis), including the development of a methodology for comparing AI ecosystems in different regions based on EU trustworthy AI criteria
  • Case studies on European best practices for a global human-centric approach to AI
  • Mapping of the human-centric AI landscape in several countries and regions worldwide
  • Thematic analysis in the area of AI and green and AI and health
  • Thematic studies on specific AI aspects in the USA to support TTC negotiations
  • Mapping of European AI strength in different sectors in international comparison
  • Studies on social credit/biometric systems use

Expert tasks may vary depending on the specific assignment they will be working on. Tasks may include: designing the study methodology, writing a final report, and presenting the results at a final workshop.
