The European Network of Living Labs -ENoLL- contributes with its infrastructure of labs to the European AI Alliance and Piloting Process of the Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI

The European Network of Living Labs –EnoLL- as a member of the AI Alliance, and joining the Piloting Process, is committed with the development and implementation of the Ethics Guidelines for a Trustworthy AI.

European Living Labs, throughout their ongoing regional, national and trans-national projects, constitute an already existing European research and innovation infrastructure for the exploration of the social and economic impact of AI, integrating all the stakeholders in a citizen-centric –human centric- approach.

Living Labs are good examples of these exploration arenas needed not only to investigate market potential of the diverse innovations in AI, but also a great opportunity to explicitly check and debate among all the stakeholders, and particularly with the European citizens, the implications and social impacts that AI will have in the years to come.

It is only by doing, by experimenting in our own countries, regions, cities and rural areas the potential impacts of the decisions to be taken, that we can, as a European society, have a responsible approach to those decisions.

This opens the door to the creation of test beds, showcases, service design co-creation processes and regulatory sandboxes in the shape of living labs for the anticipation of the new future societies, defining a universal eco-system of innovation in Europe by using the already existing infrastructures for, with and by the European citizens.

The European Network of Living Labs, together with other like-minded organisations, is willing to develop this strategic approach in this line of action, and welcomes the contributions of members from the AI Alliance.
