SAVE THE DATE: 2nd 'Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debates' on Cross-border commuters: A daily journey between obstacles and opportunities

The next ‘Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate’ will be on Cross-border commuters: A daily journey between obstacles and opportunities

Save the date: 29 April 2021 10:00 – 11:15 CET

Following the success of the first ‘Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate’ in February, the next edition will take place on 29 April and will focus on cross-border labour mobility.

By increasing opportunities for those commuting between Member States, border regions can boost economic development and productivity. During this event, our speakers will engage in a debate over the implications of cross-border commuting and how policy action can ease or at least alleviate the barriers limiting it.

Cross-border work differs from migration when the workers’ place of residence does not change if they take up employment in another country. Indeed, cross-border labour mobility  can increase opportunities for locals, and similarly, provides employers with more workers, especially in in regions where a specific workforce is lacking.

The event will be online and hosted on the Hopin platform. Further information will be available closer to the event.
