Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees: Putting the Action Plan into effect

The Partnership on Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees, one of the pilot Partnerships established under the umbrella of the Urban Agenda for the EU, has come a long way. The Action Plan presentation in November 2017 was not the end of the Partnership work, quite the contrary: partners are now working full-speed on its implementation.

Consequently, the already ninth Partnership meeting, taking place on 26 January 2018 in Athens, is dealing with the state of affairs regarding the following actions:

  • Protection of unaccompanied minors
  • Blending facilities/access to micro-finance
  • Improved access to EU integration funding
  • Prevention of education segregation
  • Academy on Integration Strategies
  • Migrant Advisory Board (read more on this action here)
  • Evidence-based integration/urban indicators (read more on this action here)

2018 being the final year of the Partnership, triggering action implementation is the key priority. The individual action working groups will meet throughout the year to translate the recommended action into practical policy. One action will be given also a distinct human shape: the Migrant Advisory Board will hold its first meeting and training in March 2018.

The next, 10th, Partnership meeting will take place on 9 March 2018 in Brussels.

Stay tuned on Twitter @EUUrbanAgenda and via the Urban Agenda newsletter to be up-to-date on these interesting developments!
