This webinar organised jointly between the Climate Adaptation Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt) and the Green Deal Projects Support Office (GD-SO) will bring together lessons and experiences from private financiers, insurers, and European regions and local authorities on how to effectively attract investment in climate adaptation and nature restoration projects.
The urgency of implementing protective measures against the growing risks of extreme climate events with catastrophic consequences is driving significant progress in identifying and piloting models to attract private sector investment. Among these, the insurance sector has been identified as one of the key private sector stakeholders, facing rising costs due to the impacts of climate change.
The private sector speakers will share their experience of developing and investing in adaptation projects, as well as presenting concrete examples and clear guidance of how regions and local authorities can effectively engage with financiers to attract capital.
The event is especially intended to help authorities that are on the implementation stage of the adaptation planning cycle (Step 5 of the RAST) to identify innovative ways (incl. blended finance approaches) to fund climate adaptation projects. Participating authorities are encouraged to invite representatives of their financial teams (incl. external advisors) managing the implementation of climate and adaptation related projects.
