Rural areas and connectivity - the Nordesnet Association in Spain

The Nordesnet Association was created to improve connectivity in rural areas, becoming a local service provider. In partnership with the guifi.net Foundation, a work team was set up to shape a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network that connects Madrid to towns which have seen their populations reduced to a few dozen over the last decades due to the lack of opportunities.

Today, many professionals have moved to live in this area thanks to the high-capacity internet, providing new horizons to these towns. The project was pre-selected for the finals by the jury of the European Broadband Awards 2022.
