Commission proposes a plan to co-create Europe’s digital future

Today, the Commission proposed the Policy Programme “Path to the Digital Decade”, a concrete legal framework to achieve the digital transformation of our society and economy by 2030 together.

You helped shape this proposal by sharing with us your visions, hopes and ideas for Europe’s digital future. You also shared with us your present needs and past experiences with digital initiatives. Many of you called for a more coordinated approach to ensure that the digital transformation accelerates in the most socially inclusive, environmentally responsible and economical way possible. We heard you.

To this end, the “Path to the Digital Decade” introduces a governance framework based on an annual cooperation mechanism to reach the targets laid out in the 2030 Digital Compass Communication. It will enable the Commission and Member States to monitor collective progress, take joint and targeted actions, and invest in large-scale projects with other public and private actors in the area of digital skills, digital infrastructures, digitalization of businesses and public services.

To arrive at a digital future where technology empowers all people and businesses, we need to walk the Path to the Digital Decade together. As a member of this Community, you are in a pole position to pick up the map and lead the way – with concrete proposals for follow-up actions and initiatives under the new policy programme.

Keep watching this space for exciting opportunities to co-create Europe’s digital future!
