The current changes in the planet's climate are transforming our world. An understanding of the climate emergency and its future implications is imperative for the future of Europe. With the aim of empowering people to a human-centered, sustainable and more prosperous digital future, CONNECT University organised from 21 June until 2 July a special sixth edition of Summer School that aims to share knowledge and information about the way climate change is interconnected with digital transformation. High-level experts coming from the EU Institutions, industry, academia will present cutting-edge innovations addressed how can digital technologies be harnessed to tackle climate change, both in terms of a greener digital system, as well as their role in helping reducing carbon emissions across industries. The programme explored the way digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence or High Performance Computing can be applied to address major societal challenges, bringing innovative solutions to address the challenge of climate. In addition, we discussed about the way digital infrastructures and technologies themselves will have to become more sustainable and energy and resource efficient. In a broader perspective, the economic, social and environmental issues will be tackled for further strengthening the policy responses.

CONNECT University is committed to equipping the society with the awareness and skills needed for the digital world. It is up to us all what type of world we want to create for our future and for the future of our children. Note that selected sessions of the Connect University “Digital for our Planet” initiative have been advertised on the digital platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe. The Conference on the Future of Europe is a unique and timely opportunity for European citizens to debate on Europe’s challenges and priorities, including climate change and digital transformation. The digital platform is the hub of the Conference. Do not hesitate to visit the digital platform and share your thoughts on Europe and the changes which need to happen, see what others have to say, find events near you, organise your own event and follow the progress and the outcome of the Conference.

Hello,
I would like to ask if there is a fee to follow the summer university- Digital for our planet, as for MOOCs in general? Once registered and the sessions followed, do we receive a certificate of completion?

Hello, there is no fee for the Connect University events. With regards to the certificate, if you register for more than 7 sessions indeed you will receive a diploma. Many thanks!

I recently watched the session "Assessing the net climate impact of digitalisation". Since all sessions are published, is it possible to register for CONNECT University Summer School now in 2022? I am interested in Connect university and would like to obtain a diploma, if possible.
