Speakers for the Second 'Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate' Announced

Cross-border commuters – A daily journey between cross-border obstacles and opportunities

The Border Focal Point Network is delighted to announce the speakers for the second edition of the Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate series, Cross-border commuters – A daily journey between cross-border obstacles and opportunitieswhich takes place on 29th April 2021 from 10:00 CET to 11:15 CET. The speakers represent business leaders and European policymakers with experience in cross-border labour mobility. 

As Manager of the HR department for Portugal & Poland operations at Brunswick, Joana Bernardo will speak about the importance of cross-border workers for her company as well as how increased labour mobility affects the region as a whole. Joana will also discuss how restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have affected cross-border workers. 

Radka Trylčová is the Head Director of the Pilsen Region Chamber of Commerce, an organisation which deals with issues of business, technical education, support for women entrepreneurs, companies, and corporations.  Radka will highlight the effects of cross-border labour on the region of Pilsen. 

As Project Manager in the City of Helsingborg where she focuses on projects related to employment, Malin Harlestad will present her experiences of cross-border mobility and how changes in labour flows benefit economic development in the area. 

Sigried Caspar is Policy Officer in the European Commission. She is currently working in the Labour Mobility - Free Movement of Workers unit of the Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL). She will present the findings of their work monitoring labour markets and will explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cross-border workers. 

Pascal Boijmans has been Head of Unit for the Interreg, Cross-Border, Cooperation, Internal Borders unit in DG REGIO since November 2018. He has worked within DG REGIO since 1995 and will provide the latest statistics and information on the Commission’s efforts to increase the benefits of cross-border labour mobility.
