Cross-Border Approach applied to TEN-T Network: the new Cartographic Portal of Mediterranean Corridor in Spain

The Office of the Spanish Government Commissioner for the Mediterranean Corridor (Spain) has recently published the GIS portal of the Med Corridor in Spain. It contains very detailed and updated information regarding the existing railway infrastructure, the ongoing works and planned projects, as well as many other data on urban, freight and passengers nodes, socioeconomic and environmental indicators. In the first few months the Map Viewer has exceeded 10.000 visits.

To understand the potential of the Corridor, it is necessary to look beyond state borders because the Mediterranean Corridor is a European project that connects six Member States (Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary, up to the border with Ukraine) and has a clear cross-border nature. Therefore, Southern France data (Occitanie) has been also included and harmonised. This is a result of fruitful collaboration with SNCF Réseau, POCTEFA TRAILS Project and Occitanie Region.
