At invitation of the EUSALP Action Group 4 “Mobility”, we recently presented a selection of results from our publication, “Study on providing public transport in cross-border regions – mapping of existing services and legal obstacles”. Zooming in on findings relating directly to the Alpine Region the presentation attached below covered the following points:
- five of the ten border segments with the highest density of CBPT services are in the Alpine Region;
- these hot-spots are Basel-Weil am Rhein (CH-DE), Salzburg-Freilassing (AT-DE), Kufstein-Kiefersfelden (AT-DE), Kehl-Strasbourg (DE-FR) and Chiasso-Como (CH-IT);
- CBPT services are relatively widely available along Swiss borders;
- despite the many successes of CBPT in the Alpine Region, demand is still not sufficiently met at all border segments.
Eight of the case studies conducted as part of the wider CBPT study concerned borders and transport services within the Alpine Region. These case studies illustrate the (potential) benefits of CBPT and, as such, the value of the toolbox developed within the CBPT study for this region. Browse the publications to get inspired!
