We are pleased to introduce Irene Covi, who will join the 30th Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate as speaker on cross-border cooperation and community-led local development.
Interreg Italy-Austria Programme Officer at the Joint Secretariat and CLLD Expert for the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen-South Tyrol, Irene works at the intersection of programme management and grassroots practice. Her focus is the bottom-up CLLD approach, treating local actors as drivers of innovation in multilevel governance and forging the strategic partnerships needed to tackle shared cross-border challenges.
Her work bridges programme delivery and capacity building, supporting local actors as they navigate the practical realities of cross-border cooperation while contributing to a deeper understanding of how multilevel governance functions on the ground. This combination of programme-level oversight and hands-on CLLD expertise gives her a distinctive vantage point on what makes community-led development work across borders.
At the debate, Irene will share lessons from the Interreg Italy-Austria programme on how CLLD can be integrated as a cross-border priority and what this means in practice for local actors and programme managers alike.
