This case study report presents the cross-border public service Öresund Train. 

It explores the business model of this service, including its governance arrangements, operational provisions to develop the service and address demand, and its territorial scope. This public transportation system involves a complex array of stakeholders on both the Swedish and Danish sides of the border.  The report then presents the key obstacles that the service faces and suggests solutions to these, while the concluding section reflects upon the lessons learnt from this case study. A good practice example within this case study, with potential for future development, is the joint Öresund Fare System. The cross-border region lacks a joint ticketing system, but the joint Fare System has enabled cross-border public transportation that includes most local public transport in diverse zones.
