The European Union institutions are starting to plan the EU Budget post-2027, revising the programming and the funding of all EU-funded programmes.

Interreg has been one of the most successful EU-funded programmes. For the past thirty years, it has involved EU and non-EU regions and cities, citizens, and businesses in ways that other EU programmes do not manage. In this way, it contributed significantly to building trust between Europe's citizens, created cross-border communities, and had the most significant impact on creating a common European identity.

Despite being one of the European Union's most successful trademarks, this policy is constantly under pressure and severely underfunded, something the European Committee of the Regions strives to change.

This conference will provide an opportunity to assess the experience across all strands of Interreg to date, exchange views on optimising implementation during the 2021-2027 period, and develop a vision for the post-2027 period.

This conference will precede the 9th EUSAIR Forum, hosted by the Croatian Presidency and organised jointly by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of Croatia, and the Facility Point Project Partner from Croatia (part of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of Croatia), in close cooperation with the European Commission and supported by the EUSAIR Facility Point. Participants registering for the conference "Interreg: Developing a Vision for the Future" may also register for the Forum events on May 15 and 16.
