The partners of the POCTEFA COMPET’plus project, are organising a side event at the EU Regions and Cities Week which will focus on how smart specialisation strategies can play a decisive role in boosting competitiveness in cross-border regions.
How could border regions boost business competitiveness and innovation? The INTERREG POCTEFA Compet’plus project aims to improve Business Competitiveness & Innovation Platforms for the strengthening of activities in the cross-border area, the creation of reinforced value chains, and the cooperation between SMEs and driving companies in converging RIS3 areas (energy, mobility, agri-food, and creative industries).
The event aims to present and discuss the method and results, with a focus on how it can be used to advance cross-border cooperation. Through the session, we want to discuss what can be the role of border regions to become a smart, sustainable, and inclusive economy. It is also a space to discuss the role of digitalization and platform-based collaboration for opening new areas and types of interaction among regions and various stakeholders’ groups. During the session, we will also present the innovative approach the COMPET'plus project follows to be able to identity cross-border economic flows. Finally, the session will approach how to materialize this cooperation by creating cross-border clusters and innovation platforms. As the Compet’plus project, follows on from the POCTEFA Competitiv’eko project, we will introduce the 3 cross-border clusters that exist (INNOVMEDICA, BIGDATIA and ADDITIVALLEY) and present examples of companies involved in the clusters and their experiences.
