IN-4-AHA roundtable "Challenges in scaling up innovation for active and healthy aging"

-

Format

Virtual roundtable discussion between 12-15 invited experts across Europe representing innovators and entrepreneurs, policymakers, funding organisations, healthcare providers and patients’ representatives. The event is open for listening for everyone interested.

Background

To be able to provide high level healthcare for the aging population, we need to start using more digital solutions. We have many forward-looking devices, apps, and other innovative solutions at idea, validation, or prototype level, but their road to market is hampered by a variety of challenges. The challenges of bringing novel healthcare solutions to market may relate to (fragmentation in)

regulative environment, difficulties in finding opportunities to validate with real-life data, high cost of development and validation, insufficient funding and high (or difficult to evaluate) risk level, consumer acceptance from both the healthcare provider’s as well as patient’s perspective, need for sophisticated business models as the actual payer varies country-by-country, and many more.

Aim

This roundtable discussion aims to take a systematic view on the multitude of these challenges. It will provide inputs for designing the scale-up model that helps innovators and entrepreneurs, and guides policymakers in their efforts to make the economic and legal environment more supportive.
