ICT 4 the Elderly is a KA2 strategic partnership project funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. It addresses what has become known as “online ageing”, by offering older adults a learning opportunity on how the Internet can play an important role in improving their quality of life through on-line social interaction.

The project is split into three phases:

1. Collection of Best Practices and Open Educational Resources (OERs) – A study has been conducted to research existing training materials related to digital skills.
2. Developing of Training Manual and Online Academy – Based on the findings the study, an engaging modular training manual was developed, aimed at people between the ages of 55 and 74 years.
3. A Project Exploitation Guide. The purpose of this is to facilitate the transferring and scale up of the project results to organisations outside the project consortium, including key stakeholders and policy makers.

The training material was supposed to be tested an international piloting phase - a fantastic opportunity for 24 older adults from Malta, Germany, Slovenia and Switzerland to test the Training Manual and Online Academy. These testing trainings were planned be held in Malta and Berlin in Spring 2020. However, COVID-19 prevented international travel, and the first phase of the training with older adults happened locally. The second phase is still foreseen to bring together participants in Malta in September 2021. They will then be supported to become multipliers and train more older adults in their communities in a peer-to-peer way.
