Working Group 9 - Promoting SME Access to and Use of Digital Tools

Welcome to the Working Group 9 - Promoting SME Access to and Use of Digital Tools!

This Community is part of the larger EU-US Trade and Technology Council Community on Futurium, which is a virtual space for businesses, public authorities, innovators, researchers, civil society, and policymakers to shape the EU and US discussions in the Trade and Technology Council together.

The Trade and Technology Council was set up at the June 2021 EU-US summit and serves as a forum for the European Union and the United States to coordinate approaches to key global trade, economic, and technology issues and to deepen transatlantic trade and economic relations based on shared democratic values.

Trade and Technology Council Working Group 9 is focused on ensuring access to digital tools and technologies for SMEs in both the European and the United States. To do so, a series of online trainings and listening sessions for European and U.S. SMEs in specific areas will be organised throughout 2022.

The first webinar of the series will be on the topic of ‘cybersecurity’ and will take place on 25 January 2022 from 15:00 to 17:00 (Brussels time). During the webinar, SMEs will be offered a training on how to recognize cybercriminals and online threats to their business, protect themselves from the risks of operating on the Internet, and make sure to offer cyber-secure products and services. Moreover, during the webinar, SMEs will have the chance to take the floor, ask questions, share their experiences, and address recommendations to the EU and U.S. chairs of the working group which tools or policy measures they would need to become more cyber resilient.
