Skills Divers has launched EDC Exporter, now available through the official Moodle Marketplace, to facilitate the practical implementation of European Digital Credentials for Learning (EDC) within Moodle.
The plugin enables authorised users to generate and manage course-completion credential data in a format designed to support EDC workflows, including:
🔹 structured digital credential data
🔹 issuer and credential configuration within Moodle
🔹 generation, download, verification and revocation
🔹 visual credential covers
🔹 preparation for subsequent eIDAS electronic sealing
🔹 audit logging and Moodle Privacy API support
The solution aims to help bridge the gap between LMS-based learning delivery and the European Learning Model (ELM) / EDC ecosystem, supporting more interoperable, portable and verifiable learning achievements.
Its development builds on Skills Divers’ experience in e-learning, Moodle environments, micro-credentials and European education projects.
We would particularly welcome feedback from the ELM and EDC community on interoperability and further implementation needs.

Congratulations on the launch. Bringing EDC preparation directly into Moodle is a valuable development. Could you clarify how the transition from the exported EDC-compatible data to the formal issuance and eIDAS electronic sealing stage works? Does the plugin currently integrate with an external issuing or sealing service, or is this handover managed manually?

Thank you for the question. At this stage, the plugin prepares and exports EDC-compatible JSON-LD data directly from Moodle course completion records. The formal issuance step, including submission to an official issuing environment and any eIDAS electronic sealing process, is not performed inside the plugin itself.
Currently, the handover is managed externally: the exported file can be used with the relevant EDC issuing/sealing workflow, depending on the institution’s infrastructure and legal requirements. The plugin does not yet include a live integration with an external issuing or electronic sealing service.
This separation was intentional for the first version, to keep Moodle responsible for credential data preparation while leaving formal issuance, sealing, certificate management, and trust services to the appropriate external systems. API-based integration with an issuing/sealing service is a possible next development step.
