Air pollution is regarded as one of the most serious environmental risk to human health. Cities are both areas where these effects are more visible and actors that have the potential to create innovative actions resulting in improved quality of life and urban environments.

The Urban Agenda for the EU partnerships on Air Quality and Urban Mobility focus on actions and strategies to make cities healthier places to live in, encouraging a strong collaboration among public authorities, the private sector, and local communities with the aim of improving air quality and public health.

Our ninth article in the series of articles, written under the Green City Dimension explores some of the most innovative solutions undertaken by European cities within the context of the Partnerships of the Urban Agenda for the EU. The actions carried out by these cities demonstrate how the integration of many disciplines and tools will be critical for improving the health of urban population.
