Cross-border workers are an integral part of the European Union, yet we still lack a clear and comprehensive picture of how many people commute across national borders for work. Improving this knowledge is essential for better policy design, planning, and cooperation in border regions.
We are pleased to announce the upcoming closing event of the Cross-Border Data Collection Project, commissioned by DG REGIO and carried out by a consortium led by ÖIR GmbH, in collaboration with Statistics Netherlands, and supported by INSEE and Statistics Denmark.
This event will present the main results of the project, including the developed methodology for cross-border data collection, key findings from the data collection exercise, and reflections on how to move towards sustainable and comparable statistics on cross-border workers across Europe.
The event will bring together representatives from European institutions, national statistical institutes, regional authorities, and other stakeholders working on cross-border issues. It will provide a space to discuss future perspectives, share experiences, and explore how cross-border data can better support policymaking.
