DigComp 3.0: the new edition of the European Digital Competence Framework is out !
The European Commission just published the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (DigComp) 3.0, the fifth version of the framework that describes what individuals of all ages need to be digitally competent in today's society. The first version was published in 2013, with updates published in 2016, 2017 and 2022. It is developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL).
The framework covers a wide range of skills levels, from basic to highly advanced, and offers a stable reference point in a rapidly evolving digital technological landscape.
Some important updates compared to previous versions are:
- 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 that covers themes of AI competence, cybersecurity competence, mis- and disinformation, wellbeing in digital environments, and rights, choice and responsibilities.
- 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀, covering basic to highly advanced.
- Over 500 l𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, providing clear descriptions for skill development and assessment.
- Availability of the framework in 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘀, for agile, adaptable use.
