TRAN Commettee of the European Parliament: public hearing on “Making the TEN-T fit for European mobility in 2030 and beyond

The Office of the Commissioner of the Spanish Government for the Mediterranean Corridor has been invited at the public hearing on “Making the TEN-T fit for European mobility in 2030 and beyond, organized by the TRAN Committee of the European Parliament. The presentation "Towards seamless rail transport for passengers and freight” focused on the importance of the TEN-T Strategy for local and regional development of Cross-Border Regions.

  • The main obstacles for seamless rail transport for freight and passengers have been highlighted.
  • Potential solutions should have been addressed to the ongoing Revision of TEN-T Regulation, suggesting a Cross-Border Integrated Transport Strategy for the integration of ticketing and fare, time schedule coordination and the implementation of Freight and Logistic Smart Specialization of Border Regions.
  • The European Cross-Border Mechanism has been acknowledged as a powerful tool to solve many cross-border obstacles.
