With the implementation of the b-solutions initiative, the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) has collected 43 instances of solutions to legal and administrative obstacles hindering cross-border cooperation.

With two calls for proposals released in 2018 and in 2019, many public bodies and cross-border structures from border regions in the EU have had the chance to receive support to solve obstacles to cross-border cooperation.

The compendium showcases an analysis of these solutions. A specific study of the obstacles and the solutions found is divided by thematic area, identified under: employment, public transport, health, institutional cooperation, multilingualism and eGovernment.

Finally, the lessons learned and the policy recommendations deriving from the previous

analysis of the data are outlined.

The annex of this compendium is an inventory of the forty-three case studies of  obstacles, whose specific features are outlined in detail in single information sheets.

Both volumes in PDF version are accessible here above. b-solutions' team is at disposal for comments or questions.

b-solutions is part of a set of new and concrete actions to enhance cohesion in cross-border areas included in the Communication Boosting Growth and Cohesion in European Border Regions (COM(2017)534) adopted by the European Commission in 2017 and is promoted by DG REGIO.
